Auto Mode

Our MDB-USB Ultra Standalone can work as a standalone solution to activate the relay and complete a vending cycle, upon a fixed (configurable) credit is provided by a peripheral without the need of a host (see the tutorial below)

Auto Mode is suitable in situations where there is only one price to be requested from the Cashless Terminal, and as a result a relay is activated for a configurable amount of time.

In Auto Mode, after configuring the device, it does not need to be connected to any host, provided that the Power is drawn from the MDB Bus.

To configure Auto Mode, the only thing which needs to be done is give a command once, which stores the data in EEPROM.

ConfigurationDescription
PriceIs the amount to charge (float, with decimal point, so 0.1 is 10 cents if currency is € for example)
TimeIs the time to activate the relay, now also in seconds, float, so 0.5 is 500ms, 2 is 2 seconds
Mode

0 - Authorization first: When card is presented, credit is given, the interface will charge the amount and upon approval, activate the relay.

Note: If the digital input (RX on the debug port, between the usb connectors) is activated (tied to ground) the function is inhibited/blocked. Credit is received but nothing is requested/charged. Idea is that you can 'disable' the function, for example, if a toilet is busy you want to pay for.

1 - Always idle mode: The interface will request the amount directly from the terminal when the input is activated.

2- Enable/disable mode, authorization first: here when the input is activated the terminal will be enabled. When input is left open (deactivated) the terminal will be disabled. Another form of managing a busy toilet.

Input Pin

As explained before, Authorization first and Enable/disable mode need an input signal to operate, which must be wired to the UART Pin of the MDB-USB (depicted below).

To activate the input, all that needs to be done is to drive the Input Pin to GND level. In other words, close a circuit between INPUT and GND Pins depicted in the figure below.

When input is Active:

Selection First Auto Mode: Requests the Value from terminal

Authorization First with Enable Pin Mode: Enables the Reader which is configured to request Authorization of funds.
