Connectors & Jumpers - MDB USB Plus
The MDB-USB Plus can be jumpered for various functionalities. The jumpers are easy to find if you open the case.
Connectors
Please note that "USB Power Out" is an USB Type A port that only outputs 5V, and cannot be used to communicate with the interface.
"USB Power In" is used to communicate with the interface and by default, to power the interface. If there is the need to power the device from MDB, it is necessary to change the jumpers' configuration, please refer to the jumper section below.

Connector | Description |
---|---|
1 | USB Power In |
2 | USB Power Out |
3 | Serial / RS232 |
4 | MDB Connectors - VMC (left) and Peripheral (right) 'VMC', is an MDB master interface suitable to BE a VMC and connect peripherals, and the right connector labelled 'Peripheral' is an MDB slave port which usually connects to a VMC or other MDB master |

All Jumpers and what they mean:

Jumper | Name | Description | |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Firmware Update | Sets the device to Update mode | |
2 | Debug Port | Debug port of the device | |
3 | CPU PWR Selector 1 | When Jumper 4 is Closed you can switch between the MDB and USB power supply; If closed on bottom 2 pins = USB Power If closed on top 2 pins = MDB Power | |
4 | GND Bind Jumper | Must be set when MDB USB is powered from MDB. Connects MDB GND level with USB GND Level. Useful for situations where MDB-USB is drawing its power from the MDB Bus or the USB (type A) is used to power the host. | |
5 | Host Jumper | Enables VMC Host interface. *Set this jumper if you are a Host/VMC/Master * | |
6 | VMC/Peripheral Bridge | These jumpers bridge the two MDB connectors (Master and Slaver). Jumper should normally be installed (they are necessary for sniffing). *Remove them if you need separate master and slave functionality (also known as Split Mode). * *NOTE: These jumpers must be set horizontally according to the direction of the schematic above. * |
All Modes on the MDB-USB Interface Plus:
Below you can find how to physically setup your Qibixx Interface for the various supported modes!
Master Mode - Jumpers 5 and 6 installed:
This jumper is adding a current source to the TX line on the master interface. This is necessary if the interface is the master on an MDB bus.

Slave/Sniffing Mode - Jumpers 6 installed
Both MDB connectors will be setup as Slave;
You can use either one for Sniffing or Peripheral Roles;

Split Mode - Jumper 5 installed
Use both MDB connectors for independent modes:
- Left MDB connector will be Master;
- Right MDB connector will be Slave;
